Serving the hungry in Berkeley and Albany since 1969
Building a food-secure future for Berkeley - We’re joining the Berkeley Food Network! - More information here.
Thank you for your ongoing support of the Berkeley Food Pantry. Despite numerous challenges, the Pantry has provided food and support to residents in Berkeley and Albany for 56 years —a truly remarkable record. We have some incredibly important news to share that will transform food assistance in Berkeley. The Berkeley Food Pantry will be joining the Berkeley Food Network.
After months of collaboration among the Berkeley Friends Church (which currently manages the Berkeley Food Pantry), the Berkeley Food Pantry Oversight Committee, and the Berkeley Food Network, management of the Berkeley Food Pantry will be transitioning to the Berkeley Food Network over the course of 2025. The Berkeley Food Pantry will continue to operate as it always has through the end of the year. Beginning in 2026, the Berkeley Food Network will fully manage the operations of the Berkeley Food Pantry.
The Berkeley Food Pantry has partnered closely with the Berkeley Food Network over the last few years as a source for food to distribute to the community, and we are incredibly excited about this next chapter of collaboration. This partnership will expand the Berkeley Food Network’s efforts to ensure that everyone in Berkeley and Albany can access food when they need it most. This is especially important during this critical time, as drastic funding cuts are being made to social safety net programs.
The Berkeley Food Network is an extremely well-qualified steward of the program and the work that Pantry donors, volunteers, staff, and community members have contributed to over the years. The Berkeley Food Network, the Berkeley Friends Church, and the Pantry Oversight Committee are aligned in our short-term goals for the future of the Berkeley Food Pantry.
Please join us in welcoming this new chapter for the Berkeley Food Pantry.
