The Berkeley Food Pantry continues to rescue thousands of pounds of food from the waste stream each month! Our pantry visitors are the beneficiaries of this bounty - fresh produce, meat, dairy, and a full array of healthy shelf-stable foods. Thanks to Berkeley Natural Grocery, Albany Target, Gilman St. Berkeley Whole Foods, Franklin Brothers' Market, Thistle, Hodo Soy, and Daily Bread for making this food available to our pantry visitors. The Berkeley Food Pantry provides monthly emergency groceries to Berkeley and Albany families and individuals in need. Read more about visiting the pantry.
Friends: We are open during the current COVID 19 crisis for our normal business hours (Mon/Wed/Fri 2-4 pm).
Please stay home if you are not feeling well.
We have also started an appointment system to keep people from standing in line or crowds forming. We encourage visitors to come between the hours of 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p. m. to pick up an appointment slip. Then, please return during your appointment time to pick up your groceries. All appointments will be between 2-4 p. m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
For our visitors, we are taking extra precautions to ensure everyone's safety:
Food is being given out pre-bagged to increase social distancing.
The pantry has set up outside in the waiting area to increase social distancing.
All staff are wearing gloves and disinfecting surfaces regularly.
Signing of paperwork is not required.
Please be aware to maintain 6 feet between you, staff, and other patrons while visiting the pantry.
