Serving the hungry in Berkeley and Albany since 1969

Berkeley Food Pantry to Cease Operations after January 31, 2026

We are sad to share the news that the Berkeley Food Pantry’s last day of distributing groceries at the Berkeley Friends Church is January 30, 2026. It has been our privilege to serve the Berkeley and Albany communities for more than 50 years, and we regret that we are unable to continue. More information is available here.

We will no longer be accepting donations of cash, stocks, planned giving, or vehicles, but we can still accept donations of food and bags until late January.

For your reference, the Food Pantry continues to operate under the 501(c)(3) status of the Berkeley Friends Church (EIN 94-6003752), and your past donations are still tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

What’s New?

The Berkeley Food Pantry continues to rescue thousands of pounds of food from the waste stream each month! Our pantry visitors are the beneficiaries of this bounty - fresh produce, meat, dairy, and a full array of healthy shelf-stable foods. Thanks to Berkeley Natural Grocery, Albany Target, Gilman St. Berkeley Whole Foods, Franklin Brothers' Market, Thistle, and Daily Bread for making this food available to our pantry visitors. Learn more.

Our pantry visitors are grateful for this fresh food and we are always looking for ways to increase the amount we can offer them. Read more to see how you can help.
